Tom Day Announces Bid for Breckenridge Mayor

A new Day for Breckinridge

Long time Breckenridge realtor Tom Day announced today that he would be a candidate for Breckenridge Town mayor.

“After living here for 37 years, I have come to know Breckenridge and its people well. I have worked in real estate and outdoor sports, the foundation of our town’s economy and prosperity.

“I am committed to protecting our community from the extreme forces that are threatening our quality of life, our culture, and our livelihoods. As Mayor, I will continue to listen to, and learn from, residents while fighting for their interests and security.

Day was born in Colorado but grew up in Montana and graduated from Montana State University. He gave up a career as an electrical engineer to become a ski instructor first in Montana before moving to Breckenridge in 1987.

He worked in Breckenridge first as a ski instructor and waiter and then as a building contractor before eventually getting a real estate license. He helped found the Breckenridge Associates real estate firm, then worked as a realtor with Sotheby’s for 10 years before founding his own real estate company with NestSeekers International.

Day has been active in Breckenridge civic life for over 30 years. “About the only thing I haven’t done is serve in political office,” he said. Among his civic activities are:

· Past president of the Breckenridge ambassadors.
· Served on the board for Team Breckenridge/Quantum.
· Served on the board for the National Repertory Orchestra.
· 30-year member of the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpting team.
· Coached football, soccer, skiing, and ski racing.
· Provided free guitar lessons for students of Upper Blue elementary and National repertory Orchestra.

Day has two sons, one is a senior at Summit High School, and the other has graduated and now lives in Arkansas.

“Housing and property taxes are major issues for Breckenridge residents,” said Day. “The town council needs real estate industry expertise and that is what I am offering.”
